Hong Kong is an international business city. In order to retain international competitiveness in the future, it is essential that companies play a critical role in encouraging employees to understand the mental health of themselves and their colleagues, and to promote good wellbeing in the workplace.

So much focus is spent on physical wellbeing, why not mental? And why isn’t this a regular board agenda item?

My participation in CMHA HK activities has connected me with like-minded fellow advocates, whose dedication and passion reignite my belief in the power of collective effort to transform our workplace into healthier environments. The simple lesson from my Chinese ancestors also resonates deeply: “Never disregard the value of small acts of kindness, nor dismiss the harm of seemingly minor misdeeds (勿以善小而不為,勿以惡小而為之).” This teaching is af the heart of my advocacy. Let’s remember that even the smallest act of kindness can have a big impact. Let’s embrace this spirit today, and every day thereafter.

Hong Kong is a special, vibrant and competitive place with a diverse society. Mental health is necessary for all of us to be at our best in and outside of the workplace, and all employers and managers have a critical role to play in supporting their people. I am delighted to join the CMHA HK Board to contribute to the growth of the Alliance, and share experiences and toolkits across members to help make a difference in the broader Hong Kong business community.
